Governor Cooper's Job Approval Rating Remains High
North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper maintains a strong approval rating, according to recent polls.
Based on 2023 survey data, Governor Cooper has an approval rating of 52% and a disapproval rating of 37%. This puts him ahead of President Biden's approval rating in North Carolina, which currently stands at 45%.
Cooper's approval rating has remained relatively stable throughout his time in office.
In 2017, his approval rating was 54%. It dipped slightly to 51% in 2018, but has since rebounded. Cooper's approval rating is likely due to his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as his efforts to improve education and healthcare in North Carolina.
Cooper's high approval rating is a good sign for his re-election chances in 2024. He is currently facing a challenge from Republican Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest. However, Forest's approval rating is significantly lower than Cooper's, at just 39%. This suggests that Cooper is well-positioned to win re-election.
